News
Overview:
A lot has happend on the river since August 2011, and a lot more is expected in 2012. The historic Paddle the L.A. River pilot boating program ran Aug. 13 - Sep 25, 2011. L.A. River Expeditions has fought these past four years to get the community such a program, and was joined last summer by a coalition of organizations that made it happen. A key factor was that, in July 2010, the EPA announced its determination that the entire Los Angeles River to be considered a "traditional
navigable waterway," which means that the water and the watershed are protected by the Clean Water Act. This was
not only great news for L.A., but set a precedent for preserving other waterways across America. The efforts of L.A.River Expeditions proved central to protecting this vital piece of federal environmental legislation and made the Paddle the LA River program possible.
The original 2008 Expedition and its aftermath are now featured in a new documentary about the Los Angeles River and our dysfunctional relationshiup to water. Check out the trailer of this award-winning new film...

Environmental documentary film
Last night was the rough cut screening & panel discussion for Rock the Boat — a story about the Los Angeles River. Great work, filmmakers! Keep it up; can’t wait for the next, longer version of it. Special thanks to LA City Councilmembers Ed Reyes and Tom LaBonge, panelists last night, who have been long-time river revitalization advocates. Rock the Boat needs funding to be completed — please be an angel and support the river via their awesome project!! http://www.rocktheboatfilm.com/
